I'm Julie. I'm married with one dog and I use this space to talk about the clothes I wear, the food I cook, the things I love, and what inspires me. The latter includes, but is not limited to wine, guacamole, my DVR, and pretty pictures.

(fashion) weekend errands
(jacket: Vestique // tee: StyleMint // jeans: Seven for all Mankind // sunnies: House of Harlow // earrings: c/o Jenna Logan // scarf: Theodora & Callum // watch: Freelook // booties: Sole Society)
I pitter-pattered around the house in these bell bottoms and tee shirt practically all day on Saturday. Jason had to work so I spent my time watching four episodes of Vampire Diaries on Netflix (woah, I have been missing out!), and then I decided to be productive and get some new fabric for my bench (my local Hancock fabrics had all decorator fabric for 50% off this past Saturday) and pick up some more dog treats and countertop cleaner from Target, so I threw on this jacket, a punchy scarf, some blingy earrings and oversized sunnies and voila – instant glam for some not so glam errands.
p.s. If you like pretty little blingy things to adorn yourself with, check out Jenna Logan. It’s where my earrings are from and it’s a club where you pay $29.99 per month and can rent one item at a time, unlimited times each month. And the jewelry is real! No CZ in site!
(fashion) date night at margaux’s
(dress: French Connection // tights: Hue // shoes: Sole Society // bag: vintage // earrings: internet)
Look at me! Two outfit posts in a row. What is going on around here? Well, apparently when you actually have fun stuff to do on your social calendar, this is what goes on.
We met one of our favorite couples at Margaux’s after work for a long overdue double date. I haven’t worn these yellow tights in a while because there is a part of me that just thinks they make my legs looked diseased, but they matched the yellow shoes so perfectly that I just couldn’t resist. And I finaaaaally got to use this vintage tooled leather clutch that used to belong to my grandmother. I just love it!
So, I hadn’t been to Margaux’s since it transitioned over from a strictly French restaurant to a French, Asian and Southern fusion cuisine. The decor was super trendy which was a far cry from the white linen table cloth and candles I remember from my previous visit. My wasabi seared grouper was awesome, but the topping that came on it (shitake mushroom something or other) was super salty. The service was fine but there were a few little details like serving the men before the women and forgetting to bring my friend her glass of wine with dinner like she had requested that definitely docked it a few points in my book. Overall my feelings were mixed, but I would definitely visit Margaux’s again if nothing else to figure out if I really do like it or not.
What do you think? Diseased legs? or cute?
Have you been to Margaux’s? Do you like it?
(fashion) outfit in video form
hi! The weather has been super craptastic in Raleigh for the past three days, but I really liked my outfit today. So, rather than stand outside in the freezing rain to take pictures, I decided to make a little video of it. Please excuse my sallow face from a day inside the office. I had no idea my makeup seems to literally melt away as the day goes on. My poor coworkers.
Enjoy!
For those that don’t want to watch my lame video, outfit deets are:
(skirt: Marc by Marc Jacobs // cardigan: Juicy Couture // tee: Splendid // tights: Spanx // rings: wedding and c/o Jenna Logan // necklace: JewelMint // booties: Sole Society (I wish you could have seen more of these in the video. They are my current faves!)
(fashion) Rachel Zoe called and wants her vest back
(vest: The Limited // fake leather (oh, excuse me… vegan) belt: random cheap store // skirt: Rachel Pally // top: Saint Grace // sunnies: House of Harlow // bag: Coach // earrings: somewhere on the internet)
Sorry that first picture is so small. I had no idea my camera was set to take tiny photos. C’est la vie.
I wore this outfit on Sunday when we went grocery shopping, had lunch and then did some pretend furniture shopping. I have no idea why, but looking at furniture that I have no intention on buying and/or can’t even afford ($14,000 for that couch? okaaaay, if you say so) is one of my favorite fun and free things to do. I love it.
Also, I bought this vest like four years ago before fur vests were everywhere. So, maybe I should call Rachel Zoe and set things straight. I bought this one on super clearance for like $12 (see, before they were cool), and I guess I’m lucky that they’ve been in style for as long as they have. The interior designer with his $14,000 couch even complimented my vest. Great taste is free and always in style, ifidosaysomyself.
Everything I am wearing is something I’ve had for at least a season or two or even longer. It’s this new thing I’m trying in 2012 where I don’t buy any new clothes until I can actually close my dresser drawers without breaking into a sweat.
We’ll see how that goes.
(fashion) a random outfit from Jason’s iphone
(jacket: Gryphon // jeggings: Citizens of Humanity // boots: Steve Madden // necklace: House of Harlow)
Sometimes, I’ll be really annoying when we’re out in public and make Jason take pictures of my outfit with his iPhone while we walk around downtown, and he will oblige because he’s a gem.
This was one such occasion.
These pics were taken a few months ago (you can tell because my hair is still really long. sigh.). But, I’m thinking I will probably resurrect this outfit today because:
1. It’s cold outside.
2. The Wolfpack plays basketball and my red shirt is perfect.
Have a great weekend, trillas. Stay warm!
