A few face things I’ve been loving these days

I consider myself pretty low maintenance (read: just mostly lacking in makeup application skills) when it comes to what I apply to my face. I wanted to share a couple of products I’ve recently fallen in love with which make it even easier to be even more low maintenance. These are definite keepers for the long term!

First up, this Estee Lauder Idealist Serum. I was suckered in by the dewy, even skin of some models on a commercial, but after three weeks of using this twice a day, my skin is noticeably more even. I have freckles all over my face and some light acne scarring around my chin and all guilty parties are all definitely lighter and more even. This also has a pretty, but not overwhelming shimmer to it which gives you just the right about of glow when worn under makeup. Definitely two thumbs up from me! And everyone else, apparently.

The next item - a beauty balm - is one I’ve heard a lot about, but I wasn’t quite ready to buy into the hype. I kept all my fingers and toes crossed that I would get a sample one day in my Birchbox, and that day was last week! I love, love, love this beauty  balm from Boscia. It functions as a primer, moisturizer, foundation, and SPF to lighten your makeup bag and streamline your morning routine (that last sentence is direct from the website, fyi). I loved my sample so much, that I purchased the full size version. That’s true love, I tell ya! And it’s also true, that I don’t need moisturizer in addition to this, which is the part I didn’t initially believe about beauty balms. I’m a convert.

An honorable mention goes to the Cle de Peau (don’t ask me how to pronounce that) concealer. I’d read about this concealer in magazines for a million years and it has really great reviews. I really, really like it. It has great staying power and blends amazingly well. I use it after I apply the above serum and beauty balm and just dab it right under my eyes. However, I’m still trying to decide if it’s worth $70. Now, it’s definitely worth a lot and is absolutely amazing, but maybe like $40 - $50. That said, I’m glad I purchased it and hopeful that it lasts me a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long time.

I’m not paid or perked for this post, I just love this stuff and thought you guys might want to know some worthy products to blow your budget on.

If you aren’t yet a member of birchbox, you are really missing out, so here’s an invitation to join. It’s $10/month and you get a box full of 5 deluxe sample sizes. At least that’s what they say. I’ve gotten my fair share of full size products as well. Not complaining. No sirreee. It’s a fun little way to treat yo self each month for not a lot of money.
