ask me a question

about me

Hello there, you lucky person! Welcome to my brain. You've stumbled upon my collection of thoughts on fashion, beauty, marriage, fashion and life. Pour some (sweet) tea (vodka) and kick up your feet. I hope you enjoy poking around the site.

Who am I you ask? I'm a southern woman trying to navigate her way through life. I am married with one dog and when I have a free moment it's spent with fashion(!), family, friends, or fried food.

I'm a happy wife with a mostly sunny and slightly sarcastic outlook on life.

Take Five Friday: Just Say No

I don’t know about you, but I am definitely a people pleaser. I have to remind myself that sometimes it’s okay to say no to things. Today’s take five Friday is a list of five things that it’s okay for me (and you!) to say no to described, as always, in five words:

1. Attending your friend’s wedding, bridal shower, bachelorette party complete with lingerie shower, engagement party, and couple’s shower: Go to one or two.

2. Picking up your bosses married lover from the airport (true story though not from my current company): Some things are just wrong.

3. Trying to have everyone like you: Some peeps just gon’ hate.

4. Toxic Friends: Find ‘em and eliminate ‘em.

5. Clothes that I used to be able to wear but can’t anymore: Still working on this one.

What are some things you’ve decided that just aren’t worth the effort anymore?

  1. singasong answered: guys that say they will, then don’t… get rid of ‘em!
  2. karlaakins answered: Don’t wait as long as I did to learn the word “no” and the word “delegate.” My rule: Is this something no one else but me can do?
  3. followingmandy reblogged this from thecooknook and added:
am having. I am going...people who wouldn’t waste theirs on me. Done and Done.
  4. haygirlhay answered: Definitely with you on #s 3 & 4. Really really hard to let some people go but it’s better that way.
  5. reallykatie answered: soooo working on 3-5, but it’s hard!!
  6. thoroughlymodernmichelle answered: Oooh! Saying “yes” when you’re really busy and it’ll put a strain on your current plans. So guilty of this.
