about me
I'm Julie. I'm married with one dog and I use this space to talk about the clothes I wear, the food I cook, the things I love, and what inspires me. The latter includes, but is not limited to wine, guacamole, my DVR, and pretty pictures.

(style) a year’s worth of outfits
Okay, so maybe it’s not 365 outfits, but here’s a look back at the looks that made it onto the blog during 2011. Top honors goes to my brown boots, those gold Wendy Mink earrings, that brown belt and my chambray shirt. Oh, and tights and leggings/jeggings, too.
And next time I think I have nothing to wear, I will refer to this post.

(shop feature) on Hallelu
Oh Hallelu, how do I love you?
Pre-blog, I lived in Wrightsville Beach for three years and Hallelu was my number one stop for cute clothes on a grad school budget. I am glad to be back in Raleigh but if there are two things I could take from WB and bring to Raleighwood, it would be Hallelu and Tower 7′s fish tacos. Oh, and the ocean wouldn’t be so bad either.
Anywho, I am so pumped that the adorable owner Catherine has really beefed up her online shop since I moved away. I’m sure she did it all for me. What a doll! And why am I telling you all this? Well, Hallelu is offering 15% off through December 25 with the code CHRISTMAS at checkout. And since all of these goodies below are under $100 (and most are under $40), that is one heckuva dilly-o! For the record, I would not be sad to see any of these items under the Christmas tree in 9 days (yes, There are just NINE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!)

(style) these shoes
Today, I am thankful for these shoes.
These are the best shoes in the history of shoes to date. They are yellow, faux snakeskin platforms (!). Normally, I’m wary of platform shoes because if it has a high platform and a stilleto heel, it can veer towards the side of hooker, but this high platform and chunky heel combo are made for cool hookers. like me
.
And you can get them, too. They are only $49.95 on Sole Society* and you can get $10 off your first purchase with the code sassyholiday through 12/31. You won’t regret it. Promise.
*I paid for these shoes with my own dolla dolla bills y’all and Sole Society is not sponsoring this post. These shoes are just really great so I figured you needed to know about them. Oh, and they come in brown or blush too. You will probably have a hard time just picking one color. I know I did.
Attention all husbands buying their wife a Christmas present
((especially if your name rhymes with Fason and your wife’s name rhymes with Droolie.))
All of these items would make for a fabulous Christmas present(s!!!!). But really, all of these would make for a fabulous gift for any hilarious, smart, witty, elegant, attractive, tasteful, assertive, twinkle-eyed woman (not that I’m talking about me, at all. I would never be so gauche. psych your mind. i’m totally talking about myself) in your life.
- Top: click through and check out the back of this seemingly simple shirt. I dare you. And since this homegirl don’t have much to flaunt up front, a little back action is my preferred way of adding a sliver of skin to an outfit.
- Earrings: These earrings are the bomb.com and probably my favorite thing on this here list o’ gifts. The yellow color is super unique and having tried them on (multiple times), they are not nearly as heavy as you would think a stone earring would be.
- Bottle: I like to have water on the table during dinner just in case someone crazy who doesn’t like wine comes over, and this glass version of a plastic water bottle is a whimsical departure from my plain old Pottery Barn pitcher.
2nd row:
- Frame: I actually don’t have a ton of photos hanging around my house. I honestly get a little creeped out when I go to someone’s house and they have tons of photos hanging everywhere and every single one of them is of themselves and their husband. I mean, it’s your prerogative, but I just don’t want to see myself staring back at myself 24/7. Anywho, I do have some great pictures of my dog that would look extra fab in this delicious frame.
- Headband: It’s a velvet turban. Do I need to say more?
- Wellies: I saw these Barbour wellies in a local boutique and immediately fell in love. Add these furry liners and I’ll be forever, cozy yours. (p.s. local peeps, these are sold at Uniquities at Cameron Village)
3rd row:
- Flower: How do I love thee, let me count the ways… 1) You are hot pink. 2) You are huge. 3) Jason would probably shake his head and ask wtf am I wearing, which I always take as a good sign.
- Necklace: For $11, you can’t not buy this. It goes with everything and is like don’t mess with me or I will shoot you with my archery skillz. Alternatively, it’s all like, shoot an arrow through my heart because I love you. Whichever you prefer.
- Wall sign: Yesssssss, this is so awesome. I’ll hang it in my dining room and smile every single time I see it.
4th row:
- Wine stopper: More often than not, I’m the only wine drinker in my house. Jason’s all like I’m 32 now, I can’t drink anymore. And I’m like well I’m still 29 and I’ll have wine if I want to! But, I am trying to get away from drinking a whole bottle at once and I don’t want my two buck chuck to go to waste, so these animal wine stoppers are basically a necessity.
- Pillow: It’s true, so why not get a pillow that says so. You are what you dream.
- Necklace: Does this one really need an explanation. I mean it’s just too perfect.
And that’s it. 12 things that would make any lady smile this Christmas. In fact, why don’t you go all 12 days of Christmas and just buy it all for me. I mean, you.
(no, I really mean me)
