In better news
Though the house of my quasi-dreams is on hold for now, tonight I get to see my 7 year old brother’s efforts at summer drama camp culminate in the final play. There will be singing and dancing on the part of children and that will make me smile, for sure.
Though, I am not sure there will be any singing and dancing next summer. Joe is not too fond of drama camp and much prefers his Harry...
Excuse me while I shed a tear
Because our offer (our awesome offer that was totally fair and that I slaved over by calculating the cost per square foot of comparable houses to determine the average cost per square foot for the neighborhood and then subtracting from that the cost of some neccessary repairs) was freaking denied.
And why was it denied?
Because the listing agent basically said he would not sell it for anything...
If only...
I had $600,000 more G’s to spend on a house, I would screw this negotiating biz-nass and just buy this one as it’s basically my dream house:
It has a pool:
And an awesome kitchen:
And a sunroom worthy of sun:

An update on the house
The good news: Our offer was not refused
The bad news: Our offer was not accepted
Because we were the second offerors on the house, the buyer gave the first offeror a chance to put together their final counter-offer. Now, the buyer is giving us a chance to put in our final offer. This is so mother freaking stressful, hence my serious lack of blog posts over the past few days.
Anyways, we should...
Because I don’t live in NYC, I rely on the wondrous internet to satisfy my need for brownies from Fat Witch Bakery. And now I’m here to spread the love. You can get 15% off any online order using the code SUMMERWITCH - valid through Labor Day!
That’s over a whole month of discounted deliciousness.

Today is the Cupcake Shoppe’s birthday and word on the street is that they are giving away FREE cupcakes today. My personal fave: cinnamon!
We did it
We just put an offer in on a house. It’s a diamond in the rough type house that needs a little bit (but not a lot) of TLC. It was built in the 40s and has all the charm and character that a home of that era should (rocking chair front porch, anyone).
I was going to write about this on my house hunting blog, but it got too confusing trying to write two blogs since this blog is all about my...
Oh Em Gee
Y’all! The craziest thing happened tonight.
A bit of backstory first:
While driving around looking at more homes and neighborhoods, Jason commented that he can’t stand my driving and after more than one “Oh MY GOD!” from him as I took a corner and a couple, “Did anyone tell you that your driving is pretty herky jerky,” I told him that I will never drive the...
Happy Saturday Night! Buying a home, planning potential remodels, and arguing with my hubby over paint colors left us both too tired to attend the concerts in Moore Square tonight.
So, in lieu of any interesting pictures of the night, I present to you a sneak peak inside Un Lapin Agile, a bar/show in Paris rumored to have been a favorite hangout of Picassso.
Re: Viral wedding video
Thank you! I totally agree.
I thought that video was painful to watch. I especially felt bad for the bride as her boobies flopped down the aisle. I know that is not the nicest thing to say, but it’s my blog so I say what I want. And really, my opinion doesn’t matter anyway because I definitely think that on your wedding, you should do what you want.

I just got this e-mail:
It has just been brought to Property Management’s attention by a Tenant that a student participating in a summer educational program conducted at their office space was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus commonly referred to as the swine flu. In the wake of this diagnosis, the program has been cancelled. We have received no information that any employee or contractor of any...
Question
I have a question about running dresses. You see, in a past life I was a runner. I ran cross country for four years in high school and participated in track from 7th grade through my senior year in highschool.
I’m thinking I need to get back in the swing of things. And since I prefer to wear dresses, the running dress seems like the perfect thing to motivate me.
But since I don’t...
Take Five Friday: Vacation Destinations
Ever since I got back from my week long trip in North Dakota, I’ve really been slacking on keeping up with my regular blog posts (Manly Monday, GSAYW, Take Five Fridays, etc.) But the old me is history! In honor of ambitious bloggy hopes, I’m getting back into the swing of things with today’s Take Five Friday. The topic du jour is where I would like to take my next vacations.

Friday in Grammar
Normally, I don’t care if your subject agrees with your verb or if you use commas correctly.
However, there is one grammar faux pas that drives me crazy: When people write ya’ll instead of y’all.Trivial? Yes. And considering only a region of the USA even uses this phrase I realize this does not apply to everyone, but that’s beside the point.
Y’all is a contraction...
While watching the media talk about Prince William
Jason: Prince William is like the real life version of Harry Potter.
me: [...] what?
Jason: They're both British.
So, fyi: if you are British and male, you are just like Harry Potter in the eyes of my husband.

Ah ha! No cut! Swept UpTuck! Whetever that is!
In an effort to keep this blog full of all things that make me happy, I’ve started another blog to chronicle the house hunting efforts.
If you are so inclined, feel free to read all about it here.
When procrastinating
I like to peruse the “FREE” section of my local Craigslist. Here’s what some people in the area are offering. All you have to do is go get it.
Tadpoles
7 half-gallons of Lactaid milk
A dresser. I kind of like this one. Give it a coat or two of paint and voila!
Turkeys!!! 4 of them.
Wind power generator. hmmm
My head hurts
and my stomach is in knots.
You see, we are trying to buy a house. I found a house that I love. Husband says it’s too far away. I say a 25 minute drive to work is not that bad. He says it is.
Husband finds a house he likes. I say we need another bathroom. Room to grow with a baby or two.
We find a house we both like. It’s too much money.
Ay yay yay.
Where’s my wine? This is...

I'm asking
Have you ever bought a house with your significant other? Was it hard to agree on home style/location/amenities/anything else? Did you have a closing from hell or was it all smooth sailing?
Husband and I have officially embarked on the home search. Our current lease is up in 2 months and he starts studying for his PE exam (the engineering equivalent of the bar exam) soon. Rather than go month to...

Get Rich Quick
Jason: You know how you can make money on sales? You buy stuff and then sell it for more than what you bought it for.
Me: Oh my gosh, you are so smart. I bet no one else has ever, and I mean ever, thought of that.
