Good morning, friends
My oh my. Today is going to be a busy one. We’ve got to get the house and ourselves ready for our trip to North Dakota. Our flight is at 6 am… yick!… which means we have to be at the airport no later than 4:30… double yick!
My to do’s:
Pack. My goal is to not overpack for once. I must edit, edit, edit. We’ll be gone for a week and partake in activities that...
Take Five Friday - Vacation
Husband and I are headed to North Dakota this weekend. For those who don’t know, I was born in this state even though I’ve spent most of my childhood and life in NC. My grandparents still live there and visiting them is the primary reason for our trip. Secondary is showing Jason a bit of the Wild West. In honor of our impending vacay, today’s Take Five Friday are the five top...
Jason: Look at Lena's (Lena = friends' 1 year old daughter) cute dress. It's got boats all over it.
Me: ... Honey, those are popsicles.
Every day is a celebration! It is for this very reason, I gave away my cheap-o Target silverware and every meal is eaten with my Oneida place settings. It’s also why I serve my husband ice cream sandwiches on hand blown glass plates and why I always, always drink out of a glass cup. I relish the moment. Even if it’s just a glass of ice water on a hot afternoon; it still deserves a...
There are two things to say about him. He was a musical genius; and he was an...
– Andrew Sullivan, Thinking About Michael (via soupsoup) (via apsies) (via heylaney)
Wow! I cannot believe that Michael Jackson is dead. So sad. Here’s my tribute to him… singing Man in the Mirror. I first posted this back in February when I was getting ready to go see “Who’s Bad,” a Michael Jackson tribute band. For all his crazies, he was a great singer/dancer/entertainer.
RIP

There is a David Sedaris book signing in Raleigh today at Quail Ridge Books. (FYI - though he was born in NY, he was raised in Raleigh, NC). Though I confess that I have never read his books, I’ve always wanted to… and I’m such a sucker for a celeb/author/quasi famous person sighting.
To go or not to go…
Things you don't see every day
Last night, Husband and I took the doggie for a nice long walk around the neighborhood. While walking around the ‘hood, we came to a corner lot, with a big tall fence that had cut outs, about my dog’s eye level, covered with chicken wire. Lo and behold, inside was a chicken coop! I counted 10 of them… and one white dove. Upon closer inspection, I noticed there was a basket...

Saturday Morning
It’s the weekend. Oh how I love thee! A jam packed day awaits
Hair appointment. Yipee! I’m fixing up this mop on my head that I’ve been passing off as hair.
Lunch with my parents. Since they’ll be at the beach tomorrow, we are celebrating Father’s Day a day early
A wedding. I am excited about this one. Really, I am. What I am not excited about? It’s an...
Musings
I’m not special or extraordinary. I don’t have any talents like singing (my children’s choir director actually told me not to stand so close to the microphone) or dancing (I tried out for cheerleading once.. my gymnastic movement? a somersault..like the kind when you just roll on the floor); I could probably stand to lose 5 pounds; sometimes I judge a book by its cover; and...
Let’s definitely stop by for a bit, but I don’t think we can stay...
– My comment to Jason on attending his cousin’s 20th birthday party tonight.
Love you, Callie! Happy Birthday!!!!!

– My sweet husband. Little does he know that I will not have wrinkles. Isn’t that what they invented botox for? And who knows what else modern science will come up with by then…

Because today, DailyCandy delivered the link to the most amazing online place ever: Covet Shop.
I will not covet my neighbor’s wife (errr… husband?) but I will covet these designer goodies at consignment prices!
GSAYW
Instead of a gratuitous story about myself today, here’s a gratuitious confession:
I’ve been using the same MAC bronzer for 3 years.
eeeeew! …but I only bust it out in the summer.
