Oh and one more thing...
Before you think I’m gonna be all “I am Julie. hear me roar because I’m so important” up in here, check yo self.
In 2010, I’ll also be sponsoring a woman through Women for Women International.
I encourage you to think about doing the same in 2010. It’s $27 per month and you get to help another woman learn to rebuild her life in often neglected, war-torn parts...
oh man, I was looking forward to 2010 but now I am scared
– Husband’s response to the below post. He’s so silly.
My New Year's Resolution
Let it out.
I probably have a lot more crazy inside me that what I let out on this old blog here. Husband, do you want to weigh in on that?
[Wait. Nevermind, Husband.]
I sometimes find myself phrasing things in the way I think other people would want to hear them or stifling my true opinion to go with the flow. Mind you, I certainly believe in picking and choosing my battles (I am always...

The Way I Wore: Playing with the Unusual
I know what you’re thinking. That outfit is not unusual, Julie. And I would agree. However, these pieces work together but I do not usually wear them together. I’ve had a few of you ask how I put together outfits or tell me that you’re afraid it costs too much money to have a stylish wardrobe. So, just to prove you wrong, here’s a sneak peek into my mind wherein I created...
Oh my gawd! It’s 4:45 and you haven’t even searched craigslist for...
– My inner monologue realized I forgot my most important “to do” today with only 15 minutes left in the work day.
NYE Outfit pour moi
Hard to believe there are only two days left in 2009. I have good feelings about what I believe 2010 will hold for me, you and the world. It going to be awesome people. And couldn’t we all use a little awesome these days? But lest we not get ahead of ourselves let’s focus on what’s important now: New Year’s Eve.
I’ll be saying “Goodbye 2009 and Hello...
I have spent far too long
searching through the easihair.com website.
Long-time blog readers know I have a thing for faux hair apparatuses (apparati?). And lawd knows I have loved my bumpit. Please note the past tense of “loved.” I purchased my bumpit for $25 at a hoidy-toidy boutique. Now they are $10 at CVS, Target and the gas station. So, I’m having a protest of one and not wearing the bumpit - just...
Let's just cut the crap
You know and I know that if you are at work this week, you are not working.
So, what do we do to pass the time? We surf the ‘net.
And sometimes, we find gloriousness. I found that gloriousness this morning. I don’t have cats, but do you know that if you did have cats, you can take them to cat dancing classes?
It’s true. See:

Julie, I'm Dying to Know...
(we have a belated formsping question, but I thought this one bears addressing)
Do you have a wardrobe budget? How much do you spend to look so stylish? I don’t think I could afford to look as glam as you.
Do I have a wardrobe budget… hmmm…. My husband would say, “hell to the n-o, she just spends all our money anyways.” Oh husband, you so funny.
But in all...

Do you dye your hair, or it is natural right now? The color is good on you, but I’d love to see a lighter brown on you!
Me: Hair, what color are you?
Hair: I forgot.
I do dye my hair. But I’ve spent the last 18 months trying to get back to what I believe my natural color is. So, yes I dye my hair and yes (I think) it’s natural right now. My hair has run the gamut from blonde...

Where are your favorite places to get cute & stylish clothes on the cheap?
Let’s break it down:
Accessories: Forever 21 is tops for earrings, necklaces and headbands. But edit, edit edit. Sometimes their stuff looks cheap. Don’t buy that stuff.
Clothing: You can’t beat ebay. Head to your local Saks, Neimans or Nordstrom and figure out your size in a particular...

What’s the biggest challenge of married life?
In my experience, the biggest challenge of married life is communication and compromise. I know it sound cliche, but it’s cliche for a reason - it’s true! Jason is not a mind reader, so if I clam up and stop speaking to him without telling him why he will have no idea what’s happened to upset me. I have to make sure I’m...

When are you two going to start having babies?
We are getting there. I go through phases of “OMG I WANT A BABY NOW!” and “having a dog is enough responsibility for me.” But, I want at least one child before I’m 30… I think. However, I’m getting to the point that while not actively trying to have a child (meaning, I’m not monitoring when I ovulate...

how you put together such pretty outfits! I absolutely love your fashion sense. I tend to wear boring clothes, but your pictures have inspired me to branch out a bit. I now wear tights (yes, that is branching out for me) and scarves on a regular basis. xoxo
Gah, do I have the most flattering readers, or what??!!? I’m so glad to know that I’ve inspired you:)! Tights are definitely a...

Has your weight been pretty consistent your whole adult life? You have a great figure!
Why thank you, person who asked this! You sure know how to give a gal a compliment.
My weight has been fairly consistent - within a 15-ish pound range. Since I’m trying to be as honest as possible, I’ll give you my real stats. (OH MY GOD! CAN’T BELIEVE I’M DOING THIS). I’m...

What do you love most about your husband?
Easy. He makes me laugh.
Like when he sings funny songs in the morning (see here).
Or I’m feeling blue and he cheers me up.
Find a man that can make you laugh. That’s the secret.

What is your favorite Christmas tradition? (And what presents did you ask for this year?) :)
My favorite Christmas tradition is eating! and drinking! and opening presents! I like it all. But in all seriousness, if I had to pick just one, it would be opening up my Christmas ornament. I know I’m about to open up my Christmas ornament if I pick up one of the four boxes that look identical...
Julie, I'm dying to know...
Because I’m at work for three more hours and because my current funk prevents me from thinking of any inspiring fashion or life related blog posts, I encourage you to take this opportunity to ASK ME ANYTHING!
Between now and 5 pm, I will answer anything you ask, my dears.

Life is hard
Things happen in our lives that we didn’t ask for and that we can’t do anything about. I’ve been dealing with some of that lately. And in the interest of those involved, I do not want to go into the details publicly, but suffice to say: life is hard.
But heaven help me, I will continue to be a silent soldier for my family of 2.5.
In case you needed proof that I'm an angel.
Sunday afternoon was spent with my in-laws for their annual Christmas party and play. The play started with all the grandchildren when they were little kids and has continued to this day (30 years later). Every year it grows as someone has a baby or gets married.
You are not allowed to opt-out of being in the play.
Can you spot me? Jason?
Here’s a clue: me and my honey up close, but not...
Good Monday Morning!
Can you believe it’s only 4 days until Christmas?!?!? Yowzers.
I’ve got 99.5% of my shopping done and will hopefully be 100% finished by the time my head hits the pillow tonight.
This weekend was a whirlwind of parties, presents and Christmas cheer. I’ve got lots of photos to come later today, but in the meantime I wanted to share this super simple recipe for a super delicious...
“Snow in the South is wonderful. It has a kind of magic and mystery that it has nowhere else. And the reason for this is that it comes to people in the South not as the grim, unyielding tenant of Winter’s keep, but as a strange and wild visitor from the secret North.” -Thomas Wolfe
This.
is why we gets so excited about snow. Sometimes it doesn’t come, sometimes it does....

Marriage is a funny thing
I’ve committed my life to another person who has seen me at my best and worst, and who will hopefully see me at my even better and, inevitably, my more worse. The borders of proper manners often get blurred in a home shared with another, and potty humor pulls a seat up next to regular humor.
With that thought in mind, I present to you a snippet of my morning, that still has me chuckling,...

Never Look Bad Again →
I have a confession. I am inept when it comes to styling my hair and doing make-up. My beauty cycle go something like this:
Find a look I like and stick with it for years
Get bored of said look. Shop like a madwoman for new “it” products. Try out new products for a week or two. Realize I have no idea what I am doing with them, and end up going back to old, faithful look.
This...
'Twas the night (week!) before Christmas
And I’m finally getting around to showing you some of the Christmas cheer in my house.
First up, this little lady reindeer. Santa’s reindeer are often believed to be men, but hot damn, with shoes like those, I have a feeling she would pull that sleigh in a jiffy:
This little guy will greet you when you come in my house. He’s not my typical style, but his little smile and...
The Stockings Were Hung
I’m gonna go ahead and say it: I seriously have the best stockings ever! EVER!
My mom actually made these beauties. Can you believe it? She hand-stitched every single one - one for everyone in our family, spouses included. I love looking at it every year and discovering something new in the detailed children’s Christmas-scape that each stocking depicts.
And what’s even more...
