Ideas for Entertaining a Seven-Year-Old
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that I have a much younger brother. I’m 20 years older than him. And yes, we have the same parents (with two other siblings between us).
In my ongoing efforts to be the most awesomest super older sister, I’ll be watching him tonight while our ‘rents have a date night of their own.
So why am I telling you this?
I need...
Take Five Friday: Awesome Things
Today’s Take Five Friday is devoted to a few things that I find generally/genuinely awesome, described in five words. These aren’t specifically the best things ever, but just a few things that I think make life a bit more awesome.
1. Denim: Love to wear it always.
2. Marriage: Partner in crime for life.
3. Fresh cut flowers: So pretty on my tables.
4. Rainy days: They’re...
Today, I did what any rational(izing) woman does. I took a chunk of my paycheck that *should* go toward bills and put it toward shoes. Specifically, these shoes:
And the fact that there were only $50 makes me feel better (hello alice + olivia for payless!). And the fact that they are a MUCH cheaper (hello mortgage!), wedge version (hello comfort!) of the Loeffler Randall lovelies (see below)...
I need your help!
Where can I find a shower curtain? I never thought picking out a dang shower curtain would be so hard.
I want something simple and pretty and that costs under $75.
The one I like at Target is sold out. I don’t like any of the ones at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
I prefer something white/ivory with some blue and/or brown.
Where else can I look?

Want to quit your day job and start a jewelry... →
One of my favorite local jewelry designers gives you the deets on etsy!
Husband WIN me: Well, I suppose my dream of lounging around all morning in my bathroom has been dashed. Jason: Why is that? me: We’re out of cream for the coffee so I have to run to the store to get some. Jason: No you don’t. I’ll do it. me: Aww, thanks honey. You’re the best. Husband FAIL Jason: And if you could have breakfast ready when I get back that’d be great.

Help a Blog Sistah Out!
Fellow blogger Amanda e-mailed me to see if I might know where to find this dress as worn by Liz Lemon. I have searched high and low with no success. Now, I turn to you, my sweets. Any clue on who makes this lovely knit dress?
This evening has been spent packing. We begin moving into our house in five short days. Since Jason has been huddled around the books for the past many weeks, we’re celebrating our anniversary on saturday per some suprise (to me) plans. So tonight is for getting packing done. Holler!
Unsolicited advice: A lesson in service recovery
We all make mistakes. I made one this afternoon (whoopsies!). Here’s my no fail approach to getting back in good (possibly even better) graces.
1. Suck up your ego and apologize. Do this even if it’s not your fault - you coulda been given bad instructions or, in my case, had a software malfunction. But if it’s a client or a superior, apologize for the mistake without making...
And since it's my anniversary
Here’s a little tale of how we met. For Jason and I, it wasn’t love at first sight. Though I certainly thought he was cute! We took things very slowly. And over time, our mutual adoration for each other developed into a deep rooted love. I’m thankful that he chose to spend the rest of his life with me and that every day I choose to spend my life with him. Marriage is not easy. at...
Eat Drink and Be Married
(exiting the church as husband and wife)
Happy Anniversary to my Husband of three years.
I can’t believe three years have already gone by.
In this short span of time, we’ve managed to finish a graduate degree, live at the (arguably) most beautiful beach on the East Coast, travel to France and Spain, move and start new jobs, and be thisclose to buying a house.
But, honestly,...
Today
I made an appointment to get my hair done and an appointment to get my wisdom teeth out. Guess which one I’m more excited about?

A camel who really wanted nothing to do...
After Jason somehow managed to flick a piece of...
Julie: See. This what you get for being mean. If you were nice all the time, you wouldn't accidentally flick shrimp with peppers on it in your eyeball. It's karma.
Jason: No, I have reverse karma. I flick shrimp with peppers into my eye and then I'm an a**hole.
Julie and Jason: hahaha
