dum. dum. dummmmm
I have a dr appointment today. I HATE going to the doctor almost as much as I HATE going to the dentist. Since I’m feeling sorry for myself, I’ll be treating myself to a lunch of sushi, something I otherwise say no to in an effort to save moolah.
Single male? I found your gal! →
When I read this, I laughed and was half expecting it to be from someone somewhere in eastern NC.
I was somewhat relieved when I found out it’s from San Luis Obispo after this evening’s CNN.com headline
Hey Melissa! I rang my bike bell just for YOU (and anyone else who needs a little ring-a-ling)
NOOOOOO! My WWD alert just came in that Domino (the most awesomely awesome shelter mag ever) is closing! Does this mean I will get my money back from my recently renewed subscription?
Calling all married people
Most of the time it’s better to file jointly. You can calculate your taxes both ways though to see which gives a bigger return or lower bill.
allthingsalishan:
Is it better to file jointly or separately?
Please advise.
Weekend Whirlwind
Whew, this weekend was over before it started. I didn’t even have time to take pictures! Weekend activites consisted of:
1. Seeing friend’s band play
2. Saturday outlet shopping ($400 coach purses for $169 - cha ching!)
3. Most amazing Mexican dinner and margaritas with Husband. (Raleigh peeps, head to Jibarra, ASAP)
4. Sunday lunch and RENT show with the ladies.
5. Homemade...
Saturday Agenda
1. Recover from spontaneous outing last night with husband and bff.
2. Hair cut
3. More recovering
4. Shopping with bff
5. NCSU basketball game
Pictures to follow
Things that stop me in my tracks
1. ruffly things - It doesn’t matter whether it’s a dress or a tablecloth. I’ve even been known to peruse the bed skirt section of department stores just for fun.
2. ice cream trucks - leftover reflex from my younger days, I suppose
3. my husband - whenever I see him, I have to stop and smooch him.
4. macaroons, the french kind - they don’t make them here in Raleigh (at...
Confession:
I’m a Goop freak, too! I’ve done the Detox and the butt workout. Next on my reading list is Life of Pi.
I’ve also gotten several of my friends riding on the Goop train.

heylaney:
I love Goop.
(I especially love Gwyneth’s list of her favorite New York restaurants, found here.)
Whew, it feels good to get that out in the open.

Thank you
I just want to thank each and every one of you that I follow on tumblr.
I’m not even kidding when I say that every single one of you has made me take a new perspective on this crazy thing called life. Thanks to you all, I have truly realized that it’s so important to not take our sweet, sweet time on this lovely earth for granted.
Melissa, thanks for making me realize and remember...
True Love
Is when your husband goes outside into the freezing cold to scrape off your car so you can drive safely to work tomorrow while you sit inside and eat all his chips.
Jason: Please don't eat all my chips.
Me: (looking into the chip bag) Hmm, we didn't really get that many chips in this bag.
...a few minutes later...
Me: I think we need to buy you some more chips.
Jason: (eye roll)
Now, we're off to The Point for the last bit of snow frolicking and wheat beer drinking we can squeeze in while we would normally be at work.
It snowed all night and day. Now, the melting process has already begun. You were fun while you lasted, snow.
Welcome to North Carolina
In addition to sweet tea, biscuits and good graces, this is another reason I heart the South.

Gov. Perdue declares a state of emergency.
Yep.
I'm good at other things, promise
I’m not good at coding stuff. I don’t even know where to begin. After redoing my tumblr page since my old format was lost, you may have noticed the following on my current page:

Simon and Piggy, separated at birth
While watching American Idol, I couldn’t help but notice that Simon looks a lot like my 6 year old brother’s guinea pig, Piggy.
Exhibit A
Note, Simon’s hair, rosy cheeks and button nose.
Exhibit B:
Piggy has the same hair, button nose, and rosy cheeks. Obviously the hair do is the most distinguishing feature, but nonetheless, I can help but wonder if they were brothers...
Who wants to be on my Trivial Pursuit team?
Approximately 7-10% of the US population is lefthanded. (my momma included)
But, almost 20% of American presidents have been left handed (B.H.O included).
Is there something awesome about lefty’s that they aren’t telling us righty’s?
allthingsalishan:
AND he’s left handed!
I cried like a baby
Just as much today as I did on election day. I’m so proud to be an American and ready to serve in any way I can.
Alright, back to work and then off to play some more in the snow.
I think I’ll make chocolate chip cupcakes while I work from home today.
And another thing
Tonight, I went bowling. For the first time in my life, I broke 100 and scored a magnificent 101. Believe it or not, this tied me for first place, but it was an accomplishment for the ages if you ask me.
Today
I worked. Yesterday, I worked. The day before, I worked. Tomorrow, I will work. This weekend, I’m having fun dammit.
When cleaning hardwood floors
do not think that it’s a brilliant stroke of genius when you decided to use pledge in conjunction with your trusty swiffer. (I mean if pledge captures dust on wood and swiffer captures dust on anything imagine what the two can do on an entire wooden floor, right? No.)
The result will be a floor that is much too slippery for safe walking and will result in yourself, your roommate/spouse, and...
I make awesome chili
and I enjoyed every bite tonight. Detox diet lasted 5.5 days. I could have made it the other 1.5 had it not been for grabbing dinner and drinks with a friend that then turned into a night on the town with many friends. I do believe I’ll still keep some of the things I learned while detoxing and incorporate them into my every day foods. Said things include:
1. Turns out I love coconut...
Sometimes
I find that I go a bit without posting on my tumblr because I have nothing to say. Then I think, I rue the day when I truly have nothing to say. to be speechless. voiceless. alone. So even if what I have to say might be nothing to some, it’s still a something.
