(fashion) date night at margaux’s

(dress: French Connection // tights: Hue // shoes: Sole Society // bag: vintage // earrings: internet)

Look at me! Two outfit posts in a row. What is going on around here? Well, apparently when you actually have fun stuff to do on your social calendar, this is what goes on.

We met one of our favorite couples at Margaux’s after work for a long overdue double date. I haven’t worn these yellow tights in a while because there is a part of me that just thinks they make my legs looked diseased, but they matched the yellow shoes so perfectly that I just couldn’t resist. And I finaaaaally got to use this vintage tooled leather clutch that used to belong to my grandmother. I just love it!

So, I hadn’t been to Margaux’s since it transitioned over from a strictly French restaurant to a French, Asian and Southern fusion cuisine. The decor was super trendy which was a far cry from the white linen table cloth and candles I remember from my previous visit. My wasabi seared grouper was awesome, but the topping that came on it (shitake mushroom something or other) was super salty. The service was fine but there were a few little details like serving the men before the women and forgetting to bring my friend her glass of wine with dinner like she had requested that definitely docked it a few points in my book. Overall my feelings were mixed, but I would definitely visit Margaux’s again if nothing else to figure out if I really do like it or not.

What do you think? Diseased legs? or cute?

Have you been to Margaux’s? Do you like it?

thanks! Sometimes you just gotta throw caution to the wind and go for it, ya know. diseased legs be damned!

What’s with the dresses that don’t really match the tights?  It looks like you match from the knee down.  Maybe I’m not fashion forward….but I just don’t get the putting colored tights with everything look.  The dress needed bare legs.  The shoes and tights look great together, just not with this.  Love the handbag.

Well, if you look at the second picture, you can actually see that the mustard yellow is present in the flowers on the dress as well as the pattern throughout the bottom of the dress – hence the yellow tights and shoes.

I definitely plan on wearing it with jeans soon. The place we went to was a little fancy so I opted for a dress this time. It’s so versatile, and you know what’s funny? The tag from the shop she bought it from was tucked inside with her name written on it.

I like the non -matchy-matchy look as far as tights and clothes are concerned.. I think it looks more grownup and less “I’m five and my mom just dressed me and my opinions will not matter until I am old enough to have an attitude.”
For this reason I own tights in lots of colors.
While we are on the subject, I do love your tights and shoes together, mainly because it makes your legs look a gazillion miles long. However, i love wearing different color shoes with my tights as well.
