I’m sure you’ve got your dinner plans laid out for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but don’t forget Christmas morning. In years past, Jason and I have spent the night at my parents house and woken to a flurry of presents and ribbons and wrapping paper. This year, we’re opting to have a low key morning at our house to celebrate the holiday with just us two – even if it’s only for a little while. I’m planning on making homemade cinnamon buns complete with piping hot coffee and a creamy glass of milk punch. The perfect way to ease into the morning.
Milk Punch (via NY Times)
Ingredients
1/2 cup bourbon
1/2 cup aged rum or brandy
2 cups milk, plus milk frozen into cubes
1/4 cup maple syrup
Grated nutmeg
Preparation
Stir the spirits, milk and syrup together in a pitcher. Pour into tumblers over frozen milk cubes or ice cubes and dust the tops with grated nutmeg. Yield: 4 drinks.
